Sono stati annunciati proprio nelle ultime ore i vincitori degli Steam Awards 2018, pensati per onorare i giochi e gli sviluppatori più apprezzati dalla community nel corso dell’anno passato. In questa edizione ci sono state ben otto categorie, dal più tradizionale Game of the Year, al VF Game of the Year, fino ad arrivare al più inusuale Better With Friends (“Meglio con gli Amici”).
A differenza delle altre cerimonie, come ad esempio i The Game Awards o i BAFTA, gli Steam Awards non si limitano ai titoli che sono stati rilasciati nel corso del 2018. Infatti, soltanto un gioco lanciato nell’anno passato ha vinto un premio: Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, infatti, si è aggiudicato il Best Alternate History.
Il premio per Gioco dell’Anno è stato vinto da PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, il battle royale che ha contribuito maggiormente a far partire il trend del relativo genere. Il Gioco dell’Anno VR, invece, è The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR, di Bethesda, mentre il premio come Miglior Sviluppatore è andato a CD Projekt Red con il suo The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt e per l’imminente Cyberpunk 2077.
