Crimson Sea's load times are lightning fast and the interface couldn't be any easier to navigate. The somewhat darker storyline and slightly different take on a familiar premise also earns points.
We didn't expect it, but the PS2 sequel actually looks better than the Xbox original. Better textures, higher character detail, and improved animations definitely make up for the softer image quality.
Dolby's Pro Logic audio coding brings crystal clear quality to a soundtrack that deserves to be in your stereo. The voice-over work is terrific too, but the sound effects need some work.
Streamlined so that character advancement is user-friendlier, the game is also faster, smoother, and built with a nice array of combat options. Though the environments need more interaction.
8.5 Lasting Appeal
There are over 60 different missions of various types with two playable characters and several multiplayer modes. The deep upgrade system and ability to perform sidequests only makes it better.
