Hot on the heels of the Square and Enix merger, it appears that we may have another sign of the consolidation that is beginning to occur in the games industry. According to CBS Market Watch, Nintendo may be purchasing Capcom. The financial news site states that Nintendo will be making a substantial announcement tomorrow, and that game industry analysts are indicating that it will be the purchase of Capcom.
"They are trying to shake their image a little bit and attract older gamers," Paul Kaump, of Doughery & Co. told CBS Market Watch. "All of these companies are up for sale, except Microsoft and Sony," added James Lin, an analyst with Jeffries & Co.
Whether tomorrow's Nintendo announcement pertains to Capcom is still unconfirmed, but it should be big regardless.
