Seven or eight Japanese-developed titles to launch Xbox 360 overseas.
June 22, 2005 - Microsoft hopes to launch the Xbox 360 in Japan with seven or eight Japanese-developed titles, Xbox manager Yoshihiro Maruyama reveals via an interview featured in the latest issue of Famitsu. This is just a part of the double digit set of titles that the company is working to get out for the system on day one overseas.
While Maruyama doesn't spill too much in the way of solid details on the 360's launch and its aftermath, he does hint at the system's price, stating that it won't be too expensive compared to previous console releases. In particular, Microsoft is working to make sure that the price doesn't make game fans think twice about busting out their 10,000 yen notes. A final price will be announced during the Summer.
Maruyama also offers an exciting assurance to potential 360 buyers in Japan. Besides Game Republic's two Xbox 360 titles, neither of which have been formally announced, Maruyama states that numerous Japan-developed games are in development for the Xbox 360. We can look forward to an announcement to follow.
