Set in Miami, Florida; Nice, France; and Istanbul, Turkey, Driver 3 offers fewer cities than in the previous games, but these cities are larger than before. For trivia-happy kids, the game has an impressive set of stats: it's got 31,000 buildings, nearly 30 square miles per city and, if you drove all of the streets once, the odometer would read 153.1 linear miles. Again, like in previous games in the series, Driver 3 is going for photo-realistic visuals not arcade-style re-creations. These digital cities will look like the urban centers you've seen in movies or have driven through or played in real life.
Unlike the series' first mission structure, Driver 3 will follow a linear story, though each mission can be completed by a variety of methods. Using a garage of cars at your disposal, players can switch between powerful heavy cars, fast sports cars, or they can approach the missions on foot. Another new addition is the use of an arsenal of guns, from berettas to Mac-10s. We're hoping the game, unlike Driver 2, will offer a smoother, less stiff, panhandle-like camera system.
