posso far notare che EA e SE hanno creato team specializzati nella creazione di titoli per wii senza che nintendo dovesse cacciare pecunia?

Questa è una buona notizia, sicurmente, un team congiunto per sfruttare al massimo il cell è quello che ci vuole, speriamo che ne escano dei bei titoli, anche se, conoscendo la casa avremmo qualche Ace Combat e tutto il resto se ne resta in Jap

Kutaragi sarà il Chairman di Cellius, e la nuova compagnia si occuperà di tutto il materiale Audio/Video, software e Computer Software riguardanti il Cell Broadband Engine. le piattaforme supportate saranno ovviamente Playstation 3 e tutti i prodotti di Sony aventi il Cell, telefoni cellulari compresi. In questa nuova società Namco-Bandai detiene il 51% delle azioni e il restante 49% va a Sony ovviamente. beh, direi che con questa mossa Sony si è assicurata il pieno supprto (anche in esclusiva, magari su certi titoli) delle produzioni Namco-bandai...

oddio...da quello che dici sembra che cellius non c'entri assolutamente NULLA con lo sviluppo dei videogiochi. e di certo non significa che ci saranno brand esclusivi.

Sony, Namco Bandai Ally to Jointly Make Games for PlayStation 3

Jan. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Sony Corp., the world's largest maker of game consoles, said its PlayStation unit will develop games with Namco Bandai Holdings Inc. to help take share from Microsoft Corp. and Nintendo Co.

Namco Bandai will own 51 percent of the venture, named Cellius Inc., with Sony holding the rest, Sony said in a faxed release today. The venture will begin operations on March 6.

Cellius will use Sony's Cell chip, which powers PlayStation 3, to create games for the console and content for mobile phones and personal computers, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. spokesman Satoshi Fukuoka said today. He would not give earnings forecasts or other details.

The alliance may help Sony recoup the 200 billion yen ($1.65 billion) it spent developing the Cell with International Business Machines Corp. and Toshiba Corp. Sony is expecting the chip, which makes the PS3 about 35 times faster than the PS2, to attract gamers with sharper graphics and more complex play.

The Cell chip is also part of Sony's strategy to beat Microsoft and Apple Computer Inc. in controlling the digital home, a future network linking televisions, music players, game consoles and other appliances to the Internet.

Namco Bandai's ``Ridge Racer 7'' and ``Mobile Suit Gundam'' were PlayStation 3's best selling games in Japan last year, according to researcher Enterbrain Inc. Sony's ``Resistance: Fall of Man'' was third.

The games business generated 918 billion yen in sales for Sony in 2006, 12 percent of total revenue.

Ken Kutaragi to become Chairman of Cellius

BandaiNamco and SCEI today announced that they are forming a new Tokyo-based subsidiary company, Cellius, in a bid to develop fresh content for Sony's Cell Broadband Engine. Cellius will be in the hands of "PlayStation's dad", Ken Kutaragi, who will be appointed as the new company's Chairman.

Initial investment from BandaiNamco and SCEI is approximately US$824,000; SCEI will have a 49% stake in Cellius, with BandaiNamco controlling a 51% share. Although there are no plans for Cellius to work directly on PS3 games, the new outfit will be producing "interactive entertainment" and "business contents" when its doors open on March 6. What those terms actually entail, we'll just have to wait and see, but perhaps Ken Kutaragi will now have a fair opportunity to show us what he was talking about at last year's Tokyo Game Show conference.

EA ed SE non hanno fondato alcuna società vincolante con Nintendo... Namco-Bandai e Sony si, hanno cacciato entrambi il Grano per fondare questa società, di cui Namco-Bandai(ricordiamolo) e la maggior azionaria... secondo te dopo che Namco-bandai a cacciato fuori un bel pò di soldini, si limiterà ad avere un ruolo marginale in questa società? stessa cosa dicasi di Sony, secondo te terranno PS3 fuori dai giochi(sia Sony che Namco-Bandai)? Mah, secondo me ne vedremo delle belle, e gli scenari futuri sono al momento molteplici....
