Cover is not just stood behind anymore - Assault Troopers use it, lean in on it, crouch behind it and dynamically vault over it whilst closing their targets. This enables the Assault Trooper to pick smarter strategies and tactics, for example by avoiding rickety cover and specifically targeting it if the enemy hides behind it. Previously it was only merely risky to take cover near flammable or explosive storage containers - against a squad of improved Helghast Assault Troopers though, it becomes positively fatal.
These skills allow Assault Troopers to work exceptionally well with both shorter ranged and longer ranged specialist units. When teamed with units of close combat specialists, for example, the Assault Trooper formations provide a base of supporting suppressive fire. Alternatively if teamed with a Sniper unit or a heavy weapons crew the Assault Trooper formation provides a defensive screen that protects the more fragile specialists.
In short, this iconic Helghast unit is returning armed to the teeth, smarter than ever and with all the attitude of his predecessors - and this time you're on his turf.
