Analysts at Wedbush Morgan Securities are saying that Sony could delay the PS3 into 2007, if the right market conditions allow for them to do so. What constitutes the right conditions? First, Sony needs to score a direct hit on the Xbox 360 launch by making the PS2 more attractive.

Buried in an analyst's memo, written shortly after last week's Electronic Arts earnings call, was a hidden gem. According to the widely read team at Wedbush Morgan Securities, Sony may delay the release of the PlayStation 3 until 2007--if exactly the right conditions prevail.

Currently, the console is slated to appear in Japan before the end of that company's fiscal year--March 31, 2006--and in North America before the end of 2006.

Given the right set of circumstances, however, that release window (at least in North America) could intentionally lag until after the 2006 holiday buying season.

Nel frattempo, voci non confermate da Sony e provenienti da rivenditori e da alcuni sviluppatori danno PlayStation 3 in ritardo e slittata al 2007, per problemi di produzione della macchina (le voci insistono su inconvenienti sul raffreddamento della console).

In an interview with industry trade magazine MCV, Xbox executive Neil Thompson speculates that the PlayStation 3 will not launch in the US or Europe until spring 2007. Thompson believes that the Xbox 360 will have a substantial head start in the next-generation console race.
"I'll be happy to compete whenever they [Sony] turn up, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's not until spring '07," says Thompson in MCV. "If they hit Xmas '06, then maybe it'll be a very thin launch in name only."

La Notizia è stata smentita questa mattina dalla stessa BBC, contattata da eurogamer su chiarimenti in merito, la BBC ha cosi' risposto

The report, which appeared on the BBC News website, caused a flurry of excitement because it included a statement that the Xbox 360 was launching "22 months before PlayStation 3."

Which would mean, of course, that the PS3 was out some time towards the end of 2007 - and not spring next year, as has previously been suggested by the likes of Ken Kutaragi himself.

But speaking to Eurogamer earlier today, the BBC journalist who authored the report said the 22 month figure was not the product of some "inside track" with Sony - it was "just speculation."

So there you have it - you should still get your shiny new Sony console next year after all. Depending on where you live, maybe...





In pratica erano solo delle mere speculazioni del Giornalista della BBC che ha stilato questo rapporto dei 22 mesi di ritardo, quindi erano tutte delle baggianate giornalistiche, il giornalista non aveva nessuna fonte interna in Sony per poter dire quello che ha detto, quindi ha ben pensato di speculare sul silenzio di Sony riguardo PS3 con un articoletto senza un minimo di serietà e verità, vabbeh. cmq l'appuntamento con PS3 è sempre fissato per la primavera del 2006, ovviamente in jap.... .

PS2 è stata lanciata ad Marzo 2000 in Jap e a fine novembre 2000 in Europa.
Non capisco perché con PS3 dovrebbe andare diversamente.
