Dual boot con vista

ho un portatile con la seguente situazione sull'hd
1 partizione nascosta con i dati di ripristino
1 partizione con Vista
1 partizione con xp
1 partizione con ubuntu 8.10 + swap

quando parte il boot grub mi fa vedere 3 o 4 opzioni di avvio per ubuntu e 2 per i sistemi windows, il primo lancia l'utility di ripristino e il secondo mi avvia il bootloader di win per scegliere tra vista e xp.

Vorrei mettere di default l'avvio di winzoz, ma provando a cambiare l'ordine con una utility di ubuntu per entrambe le entry di win mi fa partire il ripristino.

come devo modificarlo per fare in modo che mi selezioni in automatico la seconda entry di win, quella con "root (hd0,1)"

su quale partizione viene installato grub?
se eventualmente volessi cancellare la partizione di vista o ubuntu avrei problemi?

Ma per far partire di default XP o Vista devi cambiare il numero che c'è nel menu.lst alla voce default metti il numero dell'entry del sistema operativo che vuoi si parte da 0 a seguire per ogni voce che hai.

come ti han detto devi modificare questo parametro... ora non so se devi mettere 5 o 6, perchè nn ricordo se viene contata anche la stringa

che in realtà non ha nulla, comunque basta fare delle prove. per le partizioni le puoi cancellare teoricamente senza problemi, Grub viene installato all'inizio della prima partizione, nell'mbr, questo di default, a meno che non si da ua parametro diverso in fase di installazione
