PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds è stato uno dei due giochi più premiati al South by Southwest, festival che si tiene annualmente in Austin (Texas) e che si occupa di musica e di arte. Sabato sera si è svolta la premiazione dei migliori videogiochi del 2017, ed il battle royale di Tencent Games ne è certamente uscito da vincitore.

PUBG ha vinto i seguenti riconoscimenti: Excellence in Multiplayer, Trending Game of the Year e, curiosamente, Esports Game of the Year.
L’altro titolo a farla da padrona – tra gli ottimi Cuphead (Excellence in Art and Excellence in Animation) e NieR: Automata (Excellence in Musical Score and Excellence in Technical Achievement) – è stato The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, vincitore di tre awards tra cui Game of the Year.
