Resident Evil 8 e un nuovo capitolo della saga sono attualmente in sviluppo in maniera parallela presso Capcom? L’insider “AestheticGamer”, che ha parlato anche della serie Silent Hill, ha lanciato tramite Twitter una corposa serie di indiscrezioni legate al futuro della serie survival-horror con protagonisti gli zombie.
Secondo quanto affermato dal noto insider, la prima versione dell’ottavo capitolo della saga, in sviluppo dal 2016, sarebbe stata abbandonata da Capcom, che avrebbe fatto ripartire la produzione da zero. Il tutto sarebbe accaduto circa sei mesi fa, con lo sviluppo del nuovo gioco iniziato dunque da poco. Al momento dunque, non esistono né immagini né materiale condivisibile dagli sviluppatori e bisognerà aspettare un bel po’ prima di poter assistere al suo reveal. Il nuovo Resident Evil 8 sarà dunque un reboot del progetto cancellato.
La seconda indiscrezione parla di Capcom interessata a produrre altri giochi “remake” con l’ausilio del motore grafico RE Engine, che godrebbero dello stesso trattamento riservato al secondo e al terzo capitolo della serie. Al momento però non ne sarebbero previsti di nuovi. Nel 2021 però potrebbe comunque arrivare un nuovo gioco del franchise, che non sarebbe né l’ottavo capitolo, né uno dei remake previsti. Parliamo dunque di qualcosa molto vicino ad uno spin-off. Ovviamente, tutte queste informazioni vanno trattare al momento come rumor e basta.

There was a version of RE8 that was in development since late 2016, though it went on pause during 2017 due to needing more hands on for RE7's DLC and RE2 (which was behind schedule at the time). Still, there was an RE8 version that was in the works for a few years.

However, it actually got officially scrapped and the project rebooted only like 6-7 months ago, so the "final" RE8 version hasn't even been in development for a full year yet. Now these reboots often go faster because some assets and such are carried over, but don't expect RE8

There also won't be any Resident Evil remakes out in the next few years after RE3. There is a couple other Capcom games being rebooted in the same vein as RE2 & RE3 though in the RE Engine, which should be seen pretty soon.
